The Mary Valley Rail Trail is a recreational trail that uses part of the old Mary Valley railway line. The trail is 4.7km long and suitable for walkers, mountain bikers and horse riders.
In late 2023, Council undertook a feasibility study into the development of the next stages of the Mary Valley Rail Trail. This study investigated two future sections of trail from Imbil to Kandanga and from Kandanga to Amamoor following on from the section of trail that was opened in 2019 from Brooloo to Imbil.
Feasibility Study Results
During the engagement period a total of 548 Survey responses were gathered with an overwhelming majority of 92% in support of the project.
Council, with support from Queensland Hydro, will commence detailed design in 2026.
Delivery timelines and construction are subject to funding.
