Let's Talk Nelson Reserve Concept Plan and Apex Playground Renewal

Nelson Reserve is a well-used open space in the heart of the Gympie CBD. It is home to the much-loved Apex playground and a range of community events and activities. Council is planning for the future of the reserve including how it can continue to serve the community and we want to hear from you!

With parts of Nelson Reserve, including the Apex playground, now due for renewal, Council is seeking community feedback to help inform a Concept Plan for the whole precinct as well as specific ideas for the playground. A Concept Plan for the area will help set a clear direction for future improvements and avoid a piecemeal approach over time.

This is a chance to understand how the reserve is used, what people value about it, what could be improved and what should be considered as planning progresses. Engagement with a range of different users will ensure future improvements respond to community needs now and into the future.

Why we are engaging

Council wants to make sure future improvements at Nelson Reserve reflect community needs and local priorities.

Community feedback will help inform:

• the development of a Concept Plan for the wider Nelson Reserve precinct
• renewal of the Apex playground
• future priorities for improvements across the reserve
