Why is the playground being updated?
While Lions Park is a cherished part of our community, the playground has reached its “end of life”. This is when an asset is deemed as being too old to maintain for safe use by the community. We are replacing the equipment to ensure the playground remains a safe, functional and exciting place for all.
What is the 'Kilkivan Lions Park Concept Plan'?
As well as seeking feedback to inform the design of playground upgrades, Council is interested in understanding what community loves about the broader park. This includes exploring improvements to amenities, pathways, landscaping and the potential revitalisation of the rotunda. The Kilkivan Lions Park Concept Plan will serve as a roadmap for future development in the park.
How can I have my say?
There are several ways to get involved between 9 April and 3 May 2026, you can get involved by:
Has there been funding for construction?
Council has secured funding to develop the Concept Plan for the space, as well as detailed design and construction for the new playground.
What will happen to the rotunda?
We recognise the history of the park including the role of the rotunda as a key community asset. As part of this project we would love to learn more about community sentiment relevant to the rotunda and explore ways to best use the space in the future including the potential revitalisation of the community asset.
How will my feedback be used?
We will use the ideas collected to inform the design of the playground and the broader Draft Concept Plan. Once this phase of engagement ends the design team will incorporate feedback to inform the design of the playground upgrades and draft Concept Plan which will be presented back to the community before the end of 2026.
When will the Final Concept Plan and playground upgrades be finalised?
The Final Concept Plan and playground upgrades will be in late 2026.
