We want to hear your ideas for the future of Lions Park, a much-loved open space in the heart of Kilkivan.

Gympie Regional Council launched a collaborative engagement process to understand what people value most about the park and how we can make it even better in the future.

Throughout April and May 2026, Council engaged with community members in Kilkivan through an online survey and a range of in-person activities, including pop-ups and workshops. This consultation has now closed and we would like to thank community for all the insight you provided in shaping the future of Kilkivan Lions Park.

Your feedback will help create a concept plan that will guide future upgrades and investment in the space. Insights will also inform the design of a new playground, as the current one is at the end of its service life and needs to be replaced.

The key findings from this engagement are summarised in the Engagement Summary document, which can be viewed here.

  • Approximately 200 big ideas were shared
  • 2 x pop-ups and 1 x community workshop
  • Community would like to see playground upgrades, more picnic seating, shade and upgraded amenities in park Concept Plan
  • A flying fox was the most popular suggestion for play equipment at Lions Park!

What happens next?

The design team is now progressing with the development of a draft concept plan and detailed playground design informed by the findings from the engagement.

Once the draft designs are finalised, we will present them back to you for feedback.
