Gympie Regional Council has secured funding through the Queensland Government’s Walking Local Government Grants program (now part of the ActiveTransport Grants Program) to prepare Walking Network Plans for Tin Can Bay and Cooloola Cove.

The Walking Network Plans will be an important resource to guide investment in active transport infrastructure in Tin Can Bay and Cooloola Cove over the next 10 years and improve connections between key places like:

  • Schools

  • Town centre and local shops

  • Public transport

  • Parks and leisure facilities

  • Completing the short online survey and dropping a pin on the interactive map by 31 March 2026.

  • Chat to the project team at one our pop-ups in Tin Can Bay and Cooloola Cove.

Your feedback will help shape the Walking Network Plans and guide future priorities for walking infrastructure in both communities.

What happens next?

Consultation has now closed and work is underway on the draft Walking Network Plans. We’ll soon share a summary of what we heard from the community, along with the draft plans, which are due to be completed by 30 June. Once finalised, the plans will put Council in a stronger position to apply for future Active Transport funding to help deliver new footpaths and better walking connections on the ground.
