Gympie Regional Council is developing a new Open Space and Recreation Strategy to guide the future planning and management of parks, open spaces, recreation facilities and sporting areas across the region over the next 10 years.

As part of the engagement, Council invited sports clubs and organisations across the Gympie region to share their experiences, priorities and future needs.

Engagement has now closed

Thank you to the clubs and organisations that took the time to provide a response and share supporting information.

We asked about:

  • How clubs and organisations use open spaces, sport and recreation facilities
  • Current participation and potential future growth
  • What is important to clubs and organisations
  • Any barriers or challenges experienced
  • Where future improvements should be prioritised

Council also undertook broader community engagement to better understand how residents use and value parks, open spaces, sporting facilities and recreation opportunities across the region.

What happens next

Council is now reviewing and analysing the feedback received from clubs, organisations and the broader community.

This feedback will be considered alongside information about existing assets, renewal requirements, population growth and participation trends to help inform the draft Open Space and Recreation Strategy and future investment priorities.

We will continue to provide updates through the project webpage, including when the engagement findings are available.
