Why are the playgrounds being renewed?

The existing playground equipment has reached the end of its useful life and needs to be renewed.

    Which playgrounds are being renewed?

This consultation relates to Crab Creek Playground.

What is Council asking the community about?

Council is seeking feedback on the types of play equipment and play experiences people would like considered as part of the renewal.

Will all of the existing equipment be replaced?

The playgrounds are being renewed because the existing equipment has reached end of life. The final mix of replacement equipment will be informed by community feedback, site conditions, budget, safety, accessibility and maintenance requirements.

When will the new playgrounds be built?

Timing will depend on the design process, project approvals and delivery program for each playground. Council will provide further updates as the projects progress.

Will everything people ask for be included?

Not necessarily. Feedback will help inform the design, but individual requests cannot be guaranteed.

Can I suggest a specific piece of play equipment?

Yes. The survey gives you the opportunity to tell us what types of play equipment and play experiences you would like Council to consider. Specific suggestions are welcome, but they will still need to be considered alongside budget, site conditions, safety, accessibility and maintenance requirements.

Will the renewed playground cater for different age groups?

That is one of the things Council wants to better understand through consultation. Feedback from families and playground users will help identify the types of play opportunities that are most important across different age groups.

Will accessibility be considered in the new playground design?

Yes. Accessibility will be considered as part of the design process, along with safety, site conditions, available space and budget.

Can the community influence the whole park?

No. This consultation is focused on the playground renewal. Broader park improvements are outside the scope of this project unless otherwise identified.

How will Council use the feedback?

Survey results will help Council understand the play equipment and experiences most valued by users and will be considered as part of the design process.

    How long is consultation open?

Consultation will be open for approximately four weeks.

How can I have my say?

You can complete the online survey using the QR code on signage at the playground or through Council’s online engagement page.

    What happens after consultation closes?

Council will review the feedback and use it, alongside technical and project requirements, to help inform the final design. The community will be updated on the next steps.
