What will happen to the Senior Citizens Centre?
The Senior Citizens Centre is included in the broader precinct planning framework. Its role, use and connections with the Civic Centre will continue to be considered as part of revitalisation and future precinct planning.
Will the revitalisation affect disaster management operations?
No. Alternate arrangements are in place for an Evacuation Centre while the Civic Centre is being remediated. Once works are completed, the Civic Centre will continue to be available as Gympie’s designated Disaster Evacuation and Recovery Centre Headquarters. Upgrades will improve the Centre’s safety and resilience.
