23 June 2026 - PRG Meeting Summary

At its meeting on 23 June, the Precinct Reference Group received an update from Council’s project team and principal contractor, Hutchies, on the construction program and current works.

Site establishment is now complete, including site offices, contractor amenities and traffic management arrangements. Internal works are also underway, including the removal of suspended ceilings, protection of retained flooring and finishes, and upgrades to electrical and hydraulic services.

Updated floor plans highlighted improvements to accessibility, flexibility and the overall customer experience.

The group also discussed how the revitalised Civic Centre could support community events, cultural activities, commercial hires and touring productions, while continuing to serve as a community gathering place and evacuation centre during disasters.

Members raised community interest in the project scope, timing, future venue fees, programming and opportunities for local businesses. They also welcomed the opportunity to participate in specialist working groups as the project progresses towards reopening in 2027.
